Her easy acceptance of his apparent role in his community was a surprise. A pleasant one, for sure, but still a surprise. Not because he expected her to judge him for being someone who was so openly involved with the notorious Red Hood, but because he expected at least a little bit of confusion or push back why he apparently had cultivated an entire person with which to 'infiltrate' his own community. Which wasn't actually the case, but it would have been for pretty much anyone else in the colony of Bats that they both kind of skirted the edges of.
"It's not even just that, to be honest. I just...Jace is who I am most of the time." He shrugged, rubbing a little at the back of his neck. "Kinda hard to just be 'me' when 'I'm' dead. So Jace is the closest I get nowadays when I'm not talking with someone who actually knows me." Which, to be completely honest, was pretty fucking rare in and of itself. Jason tended to avoid his would be family and all their many, varied judgements of his life.
Was it kind of sad? Sure. But he'd done it ever since he'd gotten back to Gotham and had to deal with the fact that he no longer had rights to the name 'Jason Todd'.
Clearing his throat, he shook off the awkwardness of the situation. If there was one thing he was good at, after all, it was this. Weapons and the use of them. This first lesson was mostly just to see what she'd picked up from Bruce, going over how to break down the weapon and check if it was loaded or had one in the chamber. How to identify the breakpoints and how to safely handle it. He ran her through handling drill after handling drill until the motions came easy to her hands...and only then did he actually hand her the clip he'd slipped into his pocket.
"Not bad, Blondie. Not bad at all. Ready to actually learn how to pull the trigger?"
